In September 2001, when I published Before You Forget – The Wisdom of Writing Diaries for Your Children, based on my diary writing for my three children, they were 13, 9, and 4. Six years later, my son is 19, my middle daughter is 15, and my youngest daughter is 10. The diaries I keep for them are thriving.
For some time after publishing Before You Forget I had a website and a newsletter and a way of connecting with other parenting diarists. As I pursued other creative interests – my playwriting career – my writing about parenting through the diary door took a back seat. Writing in my children’s diaries has remained a constant – but sharing about the process with other parents has not. This blog is about my wish to resume writing about parenting growth through the diary door, sharing it with you, and discovering what I’ve learned about myself as a parent and a diarist as my diary writing to my children has evolved over these past six years.
Thanks for joining me on the journey.
Congratulations on your new blog. I'm happy that you are back on the diary track and are encouraging us once again.
