Our Voices 2011 Will be March 26, 2011 at Regis College!

The 5th Annual Our Voices Festival of Boston area women playwrights will be held at the Regis College Fine Arts Center Black Box Theatre, Weston, MA, on Saturday, March 26, 2011.  Once again, the festival will be produced by Kelly DuMar, festival founder, Ann Garvin of Image Theater in Lowell, and Wendy Lement, Regis College Theatre Dept. Chair.

Congratulations to the 2010 Our Voices Playwright Participants who will have plays produced in the 38th Annual Playwrights' Platform Festival at the Boston Playwrights Theatre, June 2010!

in vivo Productions and The Cambridge Center for Adult Education present The Gecko in Winter Series at 56 Brattle Street, March 27 at 8pm.  This new play-reading showcase was inspired by the Gecko in Winter Series begun in Cape Cod in 2000 and will feature selected works from writers of the Playwrights Platform, the New Opera and Musical Theatre Initiative (NOMTI) and in vivo Productions. 

The March 27th reading presents portions of Cafe, a new full-length by award-winning playwright and screenwriter, Hortense Gerardo.  This work has been developed at Shadowboxing and the Playwrights and Actors Cape Theatre (PACT.)

Featured artists include: Rachelle Coury, Brian Dunham, Dara Eagle, Peter Floyd, Naomi Gurt Lind and Chuck Schwager.

The Gecko in Winter Series is co-produced by The Cambridge Center for Adult Education and in vivo Productions.

Our Voices IV Play Festival - A Big Success!

 

Twelve Boston area playwrights were featured in the 4th Annual Our Voices Festival - A Celebration of Boston area Women Playwrights, on February 27, 2010 at Regis College Fine Arts Center, Weston, MA.  This year, the festival was produced by playwright & festival founder, Kelly DuMar, Ann Garvin of Image Theater in Lowell, and Wendy Lement, playwright and Regis College Theatre Department Chair. 

In addition to being held at Regis College for the first time this year, the festival incorporated some new elements, including the involvement of two Regis College students in Wendy Lement's playwriting class, Leanne Calderone and Anna Correa, who both worked with directors from the Boston area to develop their play readings. 

All twelve of the participating playwrights attended an experiential afternoon workshop facilitated by Kelly DuMar devoted to exploring the creative process for women playwrights.  Also new this year, each playwright wrote her Artist Statement and presented this to the audience just prior to the staged presentation of her play.  This challenging component seemed to be greatly appreciated by the audience - a number of people commented about the impact of seeing the playwright personally present her artistic vision and creative process in developing her play.
