ENVIA! A One-Woman Show will be Presented in Clearwater, FL, April 29, 2011

  

As part of the 2011 annual professional psychodrama conference, Kelly will present her one-woman comedy, Gifts for the Goddess of Illusion, featuring Aimee Rose Ranger as ENVIA!, during a conference session on April 29, in Clearwater Florida.

In this comedic coming of age story, ENVIA!, a spirited, aspiring actor, has just been cast in Her Very Own Show. In a series of hilarious and poignant episodes, ENVIA! exposes the twists and tricks of living her life in the spirit of an artist who hopes it's never too late to have a satisfying childhood. ENVIA! enacts each episode of Her Very Own Show from a stage of surplus reality  where it's always possible to have a do-over, exploring what  actually happened - and - what she wishes had happened. Prompted by questions she "solicits" from the audience, ENVIA! reenacts pivotal encounters from her childhood and young adulthood, including:

• What provokes her to flip her 1st grade teacher the bird
• How her mother's infidelity inspires her to become an actor
• Winning the Custody Battle during her parent's "untame" divorce
• How she comes by her unusual name
• The roles she is willing to play in other people's dreams
• Creating a Special Ed Plan to solve her learning challenges
• Her failure to support herself as an actor in many unsuitable jobs
• And many more!

Conjuring humor, improvisation, and theatrical magic, ENVIA! inspires her audience to embrace creativity, spontaneity and imagination as forces for change and growth in their own lives.

 Tonya Quillen, TEP and Kelly will facilitate a post-show exploration illustrating the psychodramatic origin of the play’s themes. Kelly is a certified psychodramatist, a Fellow in ASGPP, a member of Playback Northamerica, and a member of the Dramatists Guild whose plays have been published and produced around the US and Toronto. Kelly is also the founder and co-producer of the Our Voices Celebration of Boston Area Women's Playwrights, now in its 6th year.

ENVIA! Episodes at Our Voices Festival, Regis College, Weston, March 26, 2011

Two of Kelly's ENVIA! Episodes, Your Gullibility and Your Free Sample, will be performed by Aimee Rose Ranger as part of the 5th Annual Our Voices Festival at Regis College Fine Arts Center Black Box, Weston, MA, on March 26, 2011, at 7:00 p.m.

This annual festival of staged readings of Boston area women playwrights is produced by festival founder, Kelly DuMar, Ann Garvin of Image Theater, and Wendy Lement, playwright and Regis College Theatre Department Chair. The festival is fortunate to have found a new home at Regis College where it will be held for its second year in the beautiful Fine Arts Center.

This year, guest playwright and dramaturge, Sybil Roberts Williams, who teaches playwrighting at American University in Washington, D.C., returns to the festival with a reading of one of her own plays, Zimbabwe: Or She Talks To Bob Marley. Sybil will facilitate discussion of the plays in the morning and evening workshops.

The playwrights are grateful for the many talented Boston area actors who will be featured in the play readings which will be directed by a variety of skillful, imaginative Boston area directors. The festival is free & open to the public and the evening audience is also invited to join the playwrights at a pre-show cheese & chocolate reception at 6:30 in the Fine Arts Center lobby. 

One of the unique features of the Our Voices Festival is that each partipating playwright presents the audience with her Artist Statement prior to the performance of her play, offering insight into her inspiration, vision and creative process. Fem Noire Play Festival Features Mass. Women Playwrights in Lowell, March 11 & 12, 2011

Fem Noire, The Festival of Women Playwrights, will conclude the weeklong festivities of Lowell Womens Week  with plays  performed in downtown Lowell, the new home fo the Artists League of Lowell. Show is at 8:00 p.m.

Image Theater is proud to present short plays and monologues by: June Bowser- Barrett, Kelly DuMar, Melinda Lopez, Karla Sorenson, Leslie Powell, Hortense Gerardo, Gail Phaneuf, Anne Furtado & Sarah Coakley, Monica Bauer, and Debbie Roy.The plays will be performed at the (Artist
League of Lowell) ALL Arts Gallery, literally surrounded by the original visual artwork by local women artists. ALL Arts Gallery is located at 22 Shattuck Street, Lowell.
