Playwrights' Intensive Participant Plays will be Presented June 25, 2011 at the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, KS, MO

Kelly is thrilled to be participating in the 7th Playwrights' Intensive at the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, Kansas City, MO, June 23-25, 2011. Twelve Playwrights will come together for an Intensive Workshop with Master Playwright Stuart Spencer, author of The Playwright's Guidebook.

Over the course of the three-day workshop, playwrights will explore their craft under the tutelage of Mr. Spencer.  Actors are on-hand throughout to augment the writing process and all scripts are performed script-in-hand on Saturday evening at 7:30 at the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre. Tickets are $15.

The Adventures of Rocky & Skye produced at Alexandria Country Day School

Kelly's one-act comedy for youth, The Adventures of Rocky & Skye, published by Youth Plays, was produced by the fifth and sixth grade at Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, VA., in May, 2011.

About  The Adventures of Rocky & Skye:  Comedy. 2-16 males, 2-21 females (4-37 performers total). 30-35 minutes. Suitable for all ages. Four characters grow up before our eyes as they journey from elementary to middle school in this fast-paced series of scenes that inspire us to appreciate the extraordinary moments of ordinary life.

The Adventures of Rocky & Skye may be performed equally effectively by age-appropriate actors (varying by scene from elementary through middle school age), or by older (high school, college or adult) actors.  It is also ideal for scene study and classroom use, and individual scenes and monologues are well-suited for competition.  Professional rights should be negotiated directly with YouthPLAYS at [email protected]. The Adventures of Rocky & Skye premiered at Summer Shorts 4:  Celebration, produced by Youth Education on Stage (Williston, ND), where it won second place.  "Cloud Jumping" and "The Baby Artists" (scenes in the play) are published in the Smith & Kraus anthology Winners Competition Series Vol. 2:  Award-Winning 90-Second Comic Scenes Ages 4-12 (ed. Janet Milstein).
